Therefore, after the establishment in 1919 of the [http://uocc.ca/en-ca/about/history/ Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church of Canada], it began to be possible to prepare for the development of a Ukrainian-speaking community in this area.

At the beginning, a “national home”, or community national hall was built. The Priest Demitriw Senta began to travel to Redwater, and he offered services in the Ukrainian language. He would serve either in the community hall or in a parishioner’s home.

==Purchase of land, 1925==

When the parishioners were ready, they decided to purchase a site for a cemetery. In March, 1925, a general meeting discussed the location of a site suitable for both a cemetery and a Temple. It was decided to purchase from William Skolney 2 acres of land about 1 km south of Redwater for $25.00. [https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/110380354/wasyl-sadiuk William Saedlak] was the first person to be interred in this [https://www.findagrave.com/cemetery/2496060/holy-trinity-ukranian-orthodox-cemetery cemetery] in the autumn of 1925.

==Building the Temple, 1926==

On 26 December, 1926, a general meeting was convened in order to discuss the building of a Temple next to the cemetery. With their very meagre resources, the parishioners signed [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Promissory_note promissory notes] with the bank in order to secure the initially needed funds. Construction began in 1926. Many members volunteered their time and labour in addition. In 1938, a residence was constructed in Radway for the priest who served the Radway Central Parish. Many years later, this residence was sold.

Since that time, the Temple and the cemetery in Redwater have been carefully maintained. Major renovations have been undertaken to the interior, including the closing of the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dome dome] on the interior ; the painting of the walls and the [https://orthodoxwiki.org/Iconostasis iconostas] ; the installation of new rugs ; repairs to the windows, and the addition of more pews. Certain other minor improvements were made as well.

A newer furnace was installed that used propane, which later was converted to operate with natural gas.

Trees were planted around the perimeter of the site, a steel fence and a wrought iron gate were installed. A sign was painted and donated, and a new shed and washroom facilities were added.

==Rural depopulation==

As have all other rural parishes across [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Canada Western Canada], this parish community suffered from [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rural_flight rural depopulation], which began in the 1930s. This accelerated after [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II World War II] with the increase in mechanisation and the consolidation of small farms into larger ones.

By the 1990s, the number of farms had decreased very greatly because a great many had been bought by larger and larger farming operations. Thus, the population of this parish steadily decreased as people moved elsewhere into large urban areas.

==70 years : 1996==

On 10 November, 1996, the 70th anniversary of the parish was celebrated. [[Metropolitan John (Stinka) |Archbishop John (Stinka)]] of [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmonton Edmonton] and the [http://uocc-we.ca Western Eparchy] and some of the priests who served in the parish previously came to serve the Hierarchical [https://orthodoxwiki.org/Divine_Liturgy Divine Liturgy]. After the Divine Liturgy, Archbishop John blessed a [https://orthodoxwiki.org/Bells bell] which had been purchased. These events were followed by a dinner in the [https://alberta-businessdirectory.com/c-d-t-express-ltd_43346/c-derick-hall_45809 Deric Hall].

Further maintenance followed in 2005, when the roof was re-shingled. The main entrance steps were replaced in 2009, and in 2010, the doors were replaced by steel doors in order to comply with fire regulations.

On 16 December, 2013, the Deric Hall (which had been the property of the parish) was sold. The resulting cash provided the resources required for the replacement of all the windows and frames in 2014.

In 2015, the dome was capped and repaired, the interior and exterior of the building were repainted, and a new and improved electrical panel was installed. In addition, new [https://orthodoxwiki.org/Iconography icons] were acquired. The wooden cemetery Cross was also replaced by a metal one.

On 27 November, 2016, the 90th anniversary of the Temple was celebrated. In early 2020, the [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19 Covid-19 virus] made its appearance in Canada, and it quickly became a world-wide [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pandemic pandemic]. Because of the rules governing gatherings that were laid down by the provincial and city governments, the parish stopped any further services after 8 March, 2020. In addition to the rules regarding social distancing, the decreasing numbers permitted for any gathering, and the considerations regarding the health of all concerned, this and other parishes were required to close for a time.

As elsewhere, there was some controversy about the legal requirements.

There were 3 candidates who were considered : [http://orthodoxcanada.ca/Archbishop_Job_(Getcha) Archbishop Job (Getcha)], [https://orthodoxcanada.ca/Metropolitan_Ilarion_II_(Rudnyk) Bishop Ilarion (Rudnyk)], and [https://orthodoxcanada.ca/Bishop_Andriy_(Peshko) Bishop Andriy (Peshko)]. On 1 December, 2023, in accordance with the resolutions of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada, [https://www.uocc.ca/primatial-encyclical-annoucement-of-the-adoption-of-the-revised-julian-calendar-by-the-ukrainian-orthodox-church-of-canada/ Metropolitan Ilarion II (Rudnyk) announced] that, effective that day, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada moved to use the [https://orthodoxwiki.org/Revised_Julian_Calendar New (Revised Julian) Calendar].
