This category refers to the Russian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church of North America

This was the official name of the metropolitanate which arose in North America after the Bolshevik Revolution (after which communication between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Diocese of North America was almost completely cut off).

Previously, it had been known as the Diocese of the Aleutians and North America, and before that the Diocese of the Aleutians and Alaska. This administration maintained ecclesiastical continuity with the "Russian Mission" established in 1794, and it persisted until the healing of the separation with the Moscow Patriarchate.

Then, in 1970, the "Metropolia" was given self-governing status (autocephaly) by the Moscow Patriarchate, and the name was changed to The Orthodox Church in America.
